By installing, accessing, or using the acetab browser extension ("the Extension") or visiting this website ("the Website"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use our services.

2. Description of Service

acetab is a browser extension that replaces your new tab page with a customizable dashboard featuring widgets, quick links, and personalization options. The Website provides information about the Extension, a marketplace for collections, and account management for premium users.

3. User Accounts

Free Version: No account is required to use the free version of acetab. All data is stored locally on your device.

Premium Version: Purchasing premium features requires providing an email address to receive your license key. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your license key.

4. Purchases and Refunds

Pricing

Premium features are available for purchase through our payment processor, Paddle. Prices are displayed in your local currency and include applicable taxes.

Payment Processing

All payments are processed securely by Paddle (paddle.com). By making a purchase, you also agree to Paddle's terms of service. We do not store credit card information.

Refund Policy

We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on all purchases. If you're not satisfied with your purchase, contact us within 30 days for a full refund. To request a refund, email support@acetab.cody1.co.uk with your order details.

5. License Grant

Free Version

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the free version of acetab for personal, non-commercial purposes.

Premium Version

Upon purchase, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use premium features on up to three (3) devices. This license is:

  • For personal or individual professional use
  • Non-transferable (you may not share your license key)
  • Valid for the lifetime of your license (one-time purchases) or subscription period

Restrictions

You may not:

  • Share, distribute, or resell your license key
  • Use the Extension for any illegal purpose
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Extension
  • Remove any proprietary notices or labels
  • Use automated systems to circumvent license restrictions

6. Intellectual Property

The Extension, Website, and all related content, features, and functionality are owned by acetab and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. The open-source portions of the Extension are licensed under their respective licenses as noted in the source code.

7. User Content (Collections)

If you create and share collections through the marketplace:

  • You retain ownership of your original content
  • You grant us a non-exclusive license to display and distribute your collections
  • You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to share any content included
  • We may remove collections that violate these Terms or are inappropriate

8. Prohibited Uses

You agree not to use the Extension or Website to:

  • Violate any applicable law or regulation
  • Infringe on the rights of others
  • Transmit malware, viruses, or harmful code
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
  • Interfere with or disrupt the service
  • Collect user information without consent

9. Third-Party Services

The Extension integrates with third-party services (weather APIs, stock data providers, RSS feeds, etc.). Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms of service. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or content of third-party services.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE EXTENSION AND WEBSITE ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
  • Non-infringement
  • Accuracy or reliability of data from third-party services
  • Uninterrupted or error-free operation

Financial data (stocks, cryptocurrency) is provided for informational purposes only and should not be considered financial advice.

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES RESULTING FROM:

  • Your use or inability to use the Extension or Website
  • Any unauthorized access to or use of your data
  • Any third-party content or services
  • Any errors or omissions in any content

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months prior to the claim.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless acetab and its affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the Extension or Website, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of another.

13. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the Extension or Website at any time, without prior notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users or us.

You may terminate your use of the Extension at any time by uninstalling it. Premium licenses remain valid according to their terms even if your account is terminated, unless termination was due to your violation of these Terms.

14. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of significant changes by posting a notice on the Website or through the Extension. Your continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United Kingdom, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of England and Wales.

16. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

17. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and acetab regarding your use of the Extension and Website.
