Getting Started
How do I install acetab?
Visit the Chrome Web Store, search for 'acetab', and click 'Add to Chrome'. The extension will automatically replace your new tab page with your customizable dashboard.
Does acetab work on other browsers?
acetab is optimized for Chrome but also works on Chromium-based browsers like Microsoft Edge and Brave. Install it from the Chrome Web Store.
Do I need to create an account?
No! The free version requires no account. All your data is stored locally on your device. You only need an email address if you purchase premium features.
Widgets & Customization
How do I add or remove widgets?
Click the edit mode button (pencil icon) in the bottom-right corner, then click the '+' button to add widgets or click the 'X' on any widget to remove it.
Can I resize and move widgets?
Yes! In edit mode, you can drag widgets to reposition them and drag the corners to resize them. Changes save automatically.
How do I change my background?
Click the edit mode button, then click the background/settings icon. You can choose from preset images, gradients, solid colors, or upload your own image.
Can I have widgets and links on the same screen?
Yes! Every screen supports both widgets and link collections. Add productivity widgets like clock, weather, and todos alongside organized links and bookmarks — all on a single screen.
How do I expand a widget to full screen?
Hover over any widget to reveal the expand button in the top-right corner. Click it to open the widget in a full-page overlay. Click the close button or outside the overlay to return to the normal view.
How do I change the font size?
Go to the Options page (right-click the acetab icon > Options) and look for the Font Size setting under Layout. You can also override the font size for individual pages using the Font dropdown in the edit mode toolbar.
What is the Brand widget?
The Brand widget lets you store brand identity details — up to 5 hex colours (click to copy), primary and secondary fonts, website, phone number, and social media links. It's ideal for marketers managing multiple brands.
What can I do with the Pro Kanban widget?
Kanban (Pro) supports columns and cards, drag-and-drop movement, due dates, labels, templates, and import/export workflows. It is designed for lightweight project planning directly in your new tab.
Data & Privacy
Where is my data stored?
All your data is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API. We don't have servers that store your personal data—it never leaves your device.
How do I backup my settings?
Open settings and use the Export feature to download a JSON file of your configuration. You can import this file on another device or use it as a backup.
How does Google Drive backup work?
Pro users can optionally connect their Google account and store backups in their own Drive. You can restore from those backups later on the same or another device.
Is Drive sync real-time?
No. Scheduled sync runs at intervals and checks for changes between local and cloud copies. If both sides changed, acetab uses conflict-aware prompts so you can choose the correct version.
What happens to my data if I uninstall?
Uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored data. Make sure to export your configuration first if you want to keep your settings.
Pro & Billing
How do license keys work?
After purchase, you'll receive a license key via email. Enter it in the acetab settings (Settings → License) to unlock premium features. One key works on up to 5 devices.
Can I use my license on multiple devices?
Yes! Pro licenses work on up to 5 devices (computers/browsers). Activate your key on each device in the settings.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards, PayPal, and Apple Pay through our secure payment provider, Paddle. Paddle handles all payment processing and tax compliance.
What's your refund policy?
We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee. If you're not satisfied, submit a support request within 30 days of purchase for a full refund.
Troubleshooting
My widgets aren't updating
Widgets like weather and stocks require an internet connection to fetch data. Check your connection and refresh the page. If issues persist, try clearing the widget's cache in its settings.
The extension isn't loading
Try disabling and re-enabling the extension in chrome://extensions. If that doesn't work, uninstall and reinstall. Your data is stored locally and should persist.
Weather shows wrong location
Click the settings icon on the weather widget to update your location. You can search by city name or enter coordinates for more precision.
RSS feeds aren't working
Some RSS feeds may be blocked by CORS policies. Try different feed URLs or check if the feed source is accessible. Our proxy handles most feeds, but some may not work.
