Screens & Widgets

Every screen in acetab is a flexible canvas that supports both widgets and link collections. Create as many screens as you need, each with its own layout, background, and mix of content.

Creating a Screen

1. Look at the screen switcher (default: left side)
2. Click the ”+” button
3. Enter a name (e.g., “Dashboard”, “Work”, “Stocks”)
4. Your new screen is ready to customize with widgets, links, or both

Adding Widgets

1. Navigate to your screen
2. Enter edit mode (pencil icon or E key)
3. Click the ”+” button
4. Choose a widget from the list
5. Position and resize as needed

Organizing Your Layout

Drag and Drop

• Click and hold any widget to move it
• The grid system keeps everything aligned
• Other widgets will move to accommodate

Resizing

• Drag widget corners to resize
• Minimum and maximum sizes vary by widget
• Some widgets look better larger (Clock, Weather)

Pages

Screens can have multiple pages:

1. Use the page arrows in the top bar
2. Click ”+ Page” to add a new page
3. Each page has its own widget layout

Expanding Widgets

Any widget can be expanded to fill the entire page:

• Hover over a widget to reveal the expand button in the top-right corner
• Click the expand icon to open the widget in a full-page overlay
• Click the close button or click outside the overlay to return to the normal view
• This is especially useful for iframe widgets or when using auto-rotation on a dashboard

Best Practices

Information Dashboard

• Clock + Weather in top row
• News/RSS feeds below
• Todo list on the side

Finance Dashboard

• Stocks widget (large)
• Crypto widget
• News widget for market news

Minimal Setup

• Single large Clock
• Weather below
• Clean, distraction-free

Screen-Specific Backgrounds

Each screen can have its own background:

1. Navigate to the screen
2. Enter edit mode
3. Click the background settings
4. Changes only affect the current screen
